Meet your ultimate remodeling project manager. Track everything from supplies to shiny new appliances with this YNAB Template. The Georgia homeowner behind this project wanted to freshen up their kitchen, which they described as a "time capsule from 1962" with yellow laminate countertops. While they originally wanted to do a whole-house remodel, after getting quotes and finding out how much things actually cost, they decided they were actually very much OK with their cabinets and kitchen layout. But the countertop, well, it cracked. That had to go. The cooktop was from 1962 and began catching on fire randomly. That had to go too. They saved over the course of a year, their kitchen was cleared out for three weeks waiting on install, and then the actual installation time was two days. During the project, they also found water damage in a bathroom floor at the same time so expanded their renovation to fix that issue at the same time and save on labor costs. During this project, they did not gut anything, the did not move any walls. The whole thing cost $15,000.
