Ellen Oliver

I have been both a math teacher and a business owner, so I have the heart of a teacher and the passion of an entrepreneur. Most recently, I taught math at a community college. When I was able to work from home during the pandemic, I had the time to learn a new skill and chose to learn bookkeeping and started my business as a side hustle. The pandemic and remote teaching did a number on my mental health, so I left my teaching job in 2022 and run my bookkeeping and budget coaching business full time now.

I work with business owners only. I offer bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online and budgeting/cash management (for business and personal) in YNAB, and I have clients that do only one and clients that do both. I also help my YNAB clients with their personal budget, of course.

I'm an Enneagram 9, so I am not judgmental and gravitate towards peace. I am a "safe space". I am patient and respectful, and I have excellent attention to detail. I'm friendly and have a great sense of humor. I aim to build real relationships with my clients, and consider them friends.

I have always enjoyed the feeling, as a teacher, especially a math teacher, of seeing my students understand a concept that they found challenging. I loved encouraging and supporting my students. Now I get to do that with my clients! I love helping them learn about and understand the health of their business finances and what actions they can take to increase profitability. I also love the Profit First philosophy and method, and how YNAB makes it so easy to "do" Profit First in your business. I just really enjoy what I get to do every day.
